Bishkek, Nov.19, 2024. /Kabar/. Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev met with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), headed by Managing Director for Central Asia and Mongolia Hüseyin Özhan.
The press service of the capital’s Mayor’s Office reported that the parties discussed the status of the “Bishkek buses, Tranche II” project and potential heat supply projects.
Heat supply project provides for the reconstruction and modernization of coal-fired boiler houses with conversion to alternative fuels and the project of reconstruction of existing networks on the balance of Bishkekteploset and Bishkekteploenergo Municipal Companies.
The mayor of Bishkek emphasized the importance of developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the EBRD.
The purpose of this project is to purchase CNG-fueled buses, restore the bus depot and purchase equipment.
“The project will provide Bishkek with an updated bus fleet, which will improve the reliability and quality of public transportation services, which in turn will affect air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” the report says.
