Bishkek to host forum and exhibition ‘Green Economy-2024’

Bishkek, Oct. 17, 2024. /Kabar/. “Green Economy -2024” forum and exhibition will be held in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Oct. 23, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Sanzhar Bolotov said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He noted that the direction of green economy has become a national policy priority and a contribution to the country's future that reflects environmental responsibility and the pursuit of long-term well-being.

“The Green Economy Development Program 2019-2023 covers key sectors such as green energy, agriculture, industry, sustainable tourism, low-emission transport, waste management and the creation of green cities. The main efforts are aimed at developing clean transportation, increasing investment in renewable energy and expanding the country's hydropower potential. Kyrgyzstan is proud of the progress made, considering the green economy as an integral part of sustainable growth,” the official said.

Sanzhar Bolotov stressed that the forum will be an important platform to discuss achievements and further steps towards green development of Kyrgyzstan.

“The forum is planned to consider the issues of transition to environmentally friendly technologies, attracting investment in green energy and joint international efforts to combat climate change. The event will be attended by economists, ecologists, experts, representatives of science and diplomatic corps and others,” the deputy minister noted.

“Green Economy-2024” will be held with the support of international partners OSCE, UNDP, CAREC, GIZ with funding from BMZ, JIA, EU and Swiss Embassy, Unison Group.
