Bishkek, Jan.20, 2024./Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grawe.

During the meeting, the sides summarized the results of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN in 2024 and outlined prospects for the future.

The head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet expressed gratitude to Antje Grawe and heads of UN missions in Kyrgyzstan for supporting reforms and programs of socio-economic development of the country, in particular, the significant events of 2024 were noted, including the participation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly and the visit of UN Secretary-General António Guterres to Kyrgyzstan.

“The visit of the UN secretary-general to Kyrgyzstan gave a new impetus to bilateral cooperation, including on regional security, climate change, sustainable mountain development and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. In recognition of the role of the UN in the development of Kyrgyzstan, the secretary-general was presented with a certificate of naming a mountain peak in Issyk-Kul Oblast “UN Peak”, Kasymaliev said.

He also noted the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic to declare Oct.23 “International Snow Leopard Day”.

The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers emphasized that Kyrgyzstan gives priority attention to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating them into the national development program.

Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic will continue to promote the mountain agenda, and also spoke about the country's strategic projects on the construction of Kambarata HPP-1 and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

In turn, Antje Grawe confirmed the readiness to support the country's initiatives and facilitate their implementation in the international arena.
