Four ministries from Kyrgyzstan made presentations at the COP29 Climate Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan: the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy, the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science.
First Deputy Minister of Labor Mukhtarbek Baimurzaev emphasized that in light of climate change, Kyrgyzstan must find a fair path that protects the interests of workers and vulnerable groups of people.
Baimurzaev said that one of the important directions of the agency in the context of climate change adaptation is the formation of green workplace standards.
“These standards will allow enterprises to introduce environmentally friendly practices that will help create new jobs and preserve the health of workers, reduce the impact of production on the environment,” the deputy minister stressed.
He also outlined new forms of employment, cooperation with the Ministry of Education on training and skills development for unemployed citizens, including migrant workers, people with disabilities, young people and women, introduction of analytical forecasting tools and digitalization of these processes - these issues should help in the employment of people in need of work.
In Kyrgyzstan, the overall unemployment rate is 4.1%, the number of employed people is 2.58 million, and the number of economically active population is 2.71 million. The number of the total population has reached about 7.2 million people.
