Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2024. /Kabar/. Transition to digital technologies to create a common transport space in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was discussed by representatives of relevant agencies at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said.
The meeting was held on Nov.1 under the chairmanship of EEC Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev.
Thus, representatives of Kazakhstan proposed a project to simplify cargo transportation in the region of Central Asia, the Trans-Caspian route and the countries of Transcaucasia, which was launched in May this year on the route China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan (Southern Transport Corridor).
It allows automatic administration of container transportation by rail on routes from China to Central Asia and Europe through the railway checkpoint Altynkol on the Kazakhstan-China border.
In the 1st quarter of 2025, the project is planned to be launched on the China-Kazakhstan-Russia-Belarus route (Northern Transport Corridor). The meeting participants expressed a wish to the developers of the digital platform to assess the possibility of scaling the project to road transportation within the EAEU.
The meeting heard information from the Commission on the implementation by the EAEU countries of the provisions of the EAEU Treaty in terms of railway transport. The issues of harmonization of legislation in the field of civil aviation, infrastructure development, participation of member states in multilateral agreements on transportation along international transport corridors, the possibility of participation of third countries in the implementation of priority integration infrastructure projects in the field of transport of the “five” countries were considered.
