Bishkek, Nov.19, 2024. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Ratification of the Agreement on Financing between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association (IDA) on the second additional financing of the ‘Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project’, signed on April 15, 2024 in Washington.
This Law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on Oct. 23, 2024, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.
The purpose of the Law is to implement domestic procedures by ratifying the Financing Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and IDA.
The project aims to rehabilitate and construct drinking water supply systems in 11 villages in Osh Oblast and construct a wastewater disposal system for multi-storey houses in Kurmontu village in Issyk-Kul Oblast, finance an incentive grant program for households to develop sanitation in Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul Oblasts, and purchase special equipment by municipal water supply and wastewater disposal enterprises.
These investments will significantly improve access to clean drinking water, reduce water losses, and increase resilience to climate change.
