Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company renovated its passenger railroad cars by over 50% over past 10 years, the company’s press service told Kazinform News Agency.
Currently, it has 2,717 coaches. Of which 1,951 are passenger coaches, and the rest 220 are freight train, technical and restaurant cars. To raise passenger carriage services the company updates its railway infrastructure and coach yard.
In 2014-2024 it purchased 1,046 new carriages; many passenger trains were renovated. 118 new railroad cars made in Petropavlovsk were commissioned in 2024. As a result of the taken measures for the past 10 years, the passenger railroad cars were revamped by more than 50%.
It is also planned to acquire 12 locomotive engines in 2025 and 24 more in 2026.
Noteworthy, 17.6 million passengers were transported by railway in Kazakhstan last year, that is 6% more against the previous year.
