Kyrgyz Internal Ministry on number of violations recorded at local council elections

Bishkek, Nov.18, 2024. /Kabar/. During the elections to local councils, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan received 96 general reports of violations. Among them there are both confirmed and unconfirmed, Head of the Investigative Service Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sultan Makilov said on the air of Birinchi Radio.

He noted that criminal cases were initiated on ten reports.

“Seven cases are related to vote-buying, and three criminal cases have been opened in Bishkek, two each in Chui and Talas Oblasts. The remaining cases include hooliganism, theft of banners and calls for mass disorder,” Makilov explained.

More than 15,000 police officers worked to ensure order at the election. Currently, the work continues in some regions.

One polling station in Tepke, Ak-Suu region of Issyk-Kul Oblast was opened for voting today, Nov. 18. due to technical problems on Nov. 17.
