Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2024. / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov held a bilateral meeting with Vice President of the Asian Development Bank Yingming Yang.
During the meeting, the sides discussed key issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Asian Development Bank, including opportunities for financing infrastructure projects, sustainable development initiatives and increasing the investment attractiveness of the region.
The head of the Cabinet said that this year the 30th anniversary of the fruitful and multifaceted partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank is marked, which not only united the parties in common projects and tasks, but also became the basis for sustainable economic growth and social development of the country.
"Over three decades, we have come a long way from modest beginnings to large-scale projects covering almost all key areas of the country's life. The importance of these projects is difficult to overestimate - they not only support current needs, but also set the course for the future," he said.
Akylbek Zhaparov spoke about the latest achievements of the republic in the development of the country's economy, emphasizing the priority of implementing large-scale strategic projects - the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. These projects have broad economic, environmental, and social benefits and prospects.
ADB Vice President Yingming Yang noted ADB's readiness to continue active cooperation and provide the necessary resources to achieve common goals, implement projects and initiatives that are important for the republic for the benefit of the country's prosperity, and improve the social and economic situation in Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, a number of significant agreements were signed between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank. In particular, Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Baketayev and Head of the ADB Representative Office in the Kyrgyz Republic Zheng Wu signed agreements: The Issyk-Kul Improvement Project ring road (Barskoon - Karakol), additional financing for the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program in Naryn Oblast, Framework Agreement on the 2025 Financing Plan between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank.
