Kyrgyzstan and ADB mark 30 years of partnership

Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2024. / Kabar/. The 30th anniversary of the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the Asian Development Bank was celebrated in Bishkek on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President of ADB Yingming Yang, Deputy Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Tatikov, deputies of Jogorku Kenesh, ambassadors, businessmen and specially invited guests.

Ruslan Tatikov opened the event and spoke about the results of partnership between Kyrgyzstan and ADB over 30 years.

"ADB has successfully implemented and provided technical assistance to more than 217 projects aimed at improving infrastructure and eliminating gender and social inequality. "Thanks to these efforts, citizens have access to clean drinking water, electricity, as well as new opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship," he said.

And Yingming Yang said that the Asian Development Bank will continue its efforts to improve the quality of life of all citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

"ADB has been providing financial and informational support to Kyrgyzstan for economic and social development. To continue our cooperation and past development successes, we are committed to creating a sustainable, inclusive and sustainable future together. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all partners, stakeholders and colleagues," he said.

Over 30 years, 217 projects of ADB in the amount of more than 2.6 billion dollars have improved the quality of life of citizens of Kyrgyzstan. A part of the important alternative North-South roads was reconstructed with the help of ADB. Support was provided in the field of education and 500,000 textbooks were given. Along with this, 1700 teachers were trained and modern equipment was installed in 90 schools. Since 2000, ADB has provided drinking water and sanitation to more than 426,000 people in urban and rural areas.

ADB's partnership with Kyrgyzstan contributes to improving living standards across the country, with a focus on inclusive, multi-sectoral and sustainable growth.
