Bishkek, Oct. 17, 2024. /Kabar/. Director of the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Yusupov met with U.S. Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Leslie Viguerie.
In the course of the meeting, the U.S. ambassador noted the importance of religious freedom and the fight against violent extremism in Kyrgyzstan, and expressed interest in the work carried out by the State Commission to protect rights of religious organizations with a small number of followers.
In turn, Azamat Yusupov spoke about the unique model of religious freedom formed in Central Asia by the Kyrgyz Republic, noting that the state ensures equal treatment of all faiths in accordance with the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed readiness for further cooperation.
