Bishkek, Oct.16, 2024. /Kabar/. Special Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of the Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions Dinara Kemelova met with Torsten Brezina, Director of Regional Programs in Central Asia of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The press service of the Kyrgyz president said that the cooperation issues between Kyrgyzstan and GIZ within the framework of the Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions at the global, regional and national levels were discussed.
GIZ representatives spoke about the ongoing projects aimed at the development of green economy, sustainable development, renewable energy and agriculture, including support for mountain initiatives in the country.
Dinara Kemelova spoke about the promoted mountain initiatives of Kyrgyzstan on international platforms, as well as the implementation of the Roadmap “Five-Year Action Plan for Mountain Regions for 2023-2027”, noting that mountain regions are the most vulnerable to climate change, including mountain communities and ecosystems.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to actively interact within the framework of the Five-Year Action Plan for Mountain Regions, as well as to cooperate on other future projects to improve the socio-ecological conditions of mountain residents and protect mountain ecosystems in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.
