Kyrgyzstan intends to expand cooperation with African countries

Bishkek, Jan. 17, 2025. / Kabar /. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Asein Isayev held talks in the city of Addis Ababa, with representatives of African countries, in particular with representatives of Kenya, Botswana, Liberia, Mali, Guinea, Libya, Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, Eswatini and other countries of the region.

The press service of the Foreign Ministry said that First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Asein Isaev noted the growing role of Africa in the system of the world economy and international relations, in light of which Kyrgyzstan is interested in deepening cooperation with the African continent.

During the meetings with representatives of the aforementioned countries, current issues on the international agenda, expansion of bilateral ties, as well as global initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of international organizations and elected bodies of the UN were discussed.

In addition, at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Asein Isayev met with the head of the African Union Commission Department for Partnership and Resource Mobilization Steve Patrick Lalende.

The organization called the African Union is an association of all 54 African states with the aim of strengthening unity and promoting common positions, expanding political, socio-economic and cultural ties between the countries.

The sides discussed the issue of further cooperation and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the African Union. The African Union Commission expressed its readiness for close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and with the countries of Central Asia in general. They discussed in detail the issue of organizing high-level visits and the possibility of Kyrgyzstan becoming an observer state in the Organization.
