The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial and Legal Issues and Rules of Procedure of the Jogorku Kenesh approved in the first reading the bill on the ban on occupation of top government positions by those guilty of corruption offenses, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported.
The bill is aimed at preventing from committing corruption and other crimes against the interests of state and municipal service. “Corruption is one of the serious modern threats to the national security of the Kyrgyz Republic. As of today, there is a need to introduce a lifetime ban on the occupation of the highest state positions by persons guilty of committing corruption offenses.
It is proposed to introduce norms into the constitutional laws “On the Election of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic”, “On the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic” limiting the possibility of entry into high-ranking government positions of unscrupulous and dishonest officials to continue corrupt activities,” MP Zhenishbek Toktorbaev said.
During the discussion, another deputy Nurlanbek Azygaliev supported the draft law, adding that he will make in the second reading of his proposals.
Along with this, the Committee considered and approved the draft law “On assigning the geographical name ‘Bakai-Ata’ to the highest unnamed peak with a height of 4,457 meters of the mountain range, located on the south-western side of the village of Kara-Sai of Aitmatov region, Talas Oblast in the second reading.
