Kyrgyzstan to build waste sorting plants in Issyk-Kul Oblast

Bishkek, Oct.17, 2024. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan to launch waste sorting plants in its Issyk-Kul Oblast under the mechanism of public-private partnership, the PPP Center reported.

Within the framework of the 3rd International Conference on PPP, held in Bishkek on Oct. 16, memorandums were signed on the implementation of projects to create complexes for sorting and processing of solid domestic waste between the Mayor’s Offices of Balykchy, Issyk-Kul Oblast state administration and Taza Bio Service LLC.

The project aims to improve the sanitary and environmental condition of the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Territory, reduce carbon emissions and pollution, create “green” jobs available for women and men and a favorable environment for life and health of the population, increase the efficiency of energy, resources and ecosystem services, as well as attract private investment and infrastructure development in Issyk-Kul Oblast.

The project plans to establish a waste sorting plant in Balykchy and Cholpon-Ata towns and introduce an automatic garbage sorting line to separate useful fractions from the total mass of solid domestic waste for further use as secondary raw materials and for subsequent reclamation with leveling and backfilling on the land plot.
