Bishkek, Jan.23, 2025. /Kabar/. A ceremony of signing a trilateral memorandum of understanding between the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic and the Aga Khan Development Organization (AKDN) took place at the building of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan.
The document was signed in order to improve and increase the effectiveness of the response system of local authorities, the press service of the ministry said.
Emergency Minister Boobek Azhikeyev noted that the implementation of this document will contribute to the construction of multifunctional facilities, training on disaster risk management and improving emergency preparedness.
In turn, Head of the European Union Delegation Marilyn Josefson emphasized that the signing of this memorandum is an important step in strengthening resilience and stability in the border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
“This project is about empowering local authorities and communities to respond more effectively to natural disasters,” the report said.
In addition, Boobek Azhikeyev awarded Marilyn Josefson with a medal of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
