Representatives of Turkmenistan are part of the international observer mission for the upcoming presidential elections in Belarus. In total, as of January 20, 2025, 290 observers from the CIS countries and international organizations, including delegates from Turkmenistan, were accredited, Turkmenportal reported.
The mission also includes representatives of other Central Asian states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Russia, Azerbaijan and a number of international organizations, including the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
According to the mission's preliminary assessment, the campaign campaign is taking place calmly and in an orderly manner, in accordance with the electoral legislation.
The presidential elections in Belarus will take place on January 26. Five candidates are vying for the post of head of state, including the current President Alexander Lukashenko, who has led the country since 1994. Other candidates include representatives of various political parties and an independent candidate.
The final conclusions and assessments of the observer mission will be presented in the final document on the results of election monitoring.
