Bishkek, Oct.16, 2024. /Kabar/. Harvesting of grain crops is being completed in the country, the National Statistics Committee of the republic reported.
Thus, as of September this year, grain crops (without legumes, rice and buckwheat) were harvested from an area of 565 thousand hectares, which is 3.5% more than on the same date last year. In addition, 94% of areas have been harvested.
1.9 million tons of grain were threshed in the original weight, which is 37.5% more than on the same date last year.
Compared to the same period of 2023, the gross harvest of barley - by 67.5%, wheat - by 52.7%, fruits and berries - by 29.1%, melons - by 17.2% and oilseeds - by 16.2%.
Along with this, the gross harvest of cotton - by 25.9%, tobacco - by 21.9%, rice - by 1.4% and potatoes - by 0.3% decreased.
The decrease in gross harvest is due to the reduction of the sown area for the harvest of 2024 compared to last year areas of tobacco - by 42%, cotton - by 26.9% and potatoes - by 8.4%.
